October 10, 2020 the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation announced a $25 million-dollar, public-private partnership – the LymeX Innovation Accelerator (LymeX). HHS secretary Alex Azar says this will be “… the largest Lyme disease public private partnership ever and will help support next-generation science and innovation to address the disease’s growing burden.” The program is to augment federally funded science, disease control and prevention for diagnostics, treatments, vaccines, and technologies for Lyme and tick-borne diseases in the hope of transformative impact.
The mission of the partnership is to strategically advance Lyme and tick-borne disease solutions in direct collaboration with Lyme patients, patient advocates, and diverse stakeholders across academia, nonprofits, industry, and government. Read more on LymeX on the HHS.gov website.
